How to save Instagram Reels

“Save” on Instagram keeps the Reel in your account. Saving a file puts a copy on your device. Choose the one you actually need.

Save a Reel inside Instagram

  1. Open the Reel.
  2. Tap the bookmark / Save control.
  3. Optionally add it to a collection.

The Reel stays on Instagram. You need an account, and you watch it in the app or on instagram.com. If the creator later removes it or restricts it, the bookmark can stop working. This is not a video file in your camera roll.

Save a Reel as a file on your device

  1. Open the Reel and copy its public link.
  2. Paste the URL on the Instagram Reels downloader.
  3. Download the file and keep it in Photos, Files, or Downloads.

This only works when the Reel is public. ReelFetch does not open private accounts. Copying the link is covered in how to download Instagram Reels.

When to use each method

  • Use Instagram Save when you only want to find the Reel again later inside the app.
  • Use a file download when you have the right to keep a copy offline, edit your own work, or move the video off Instagram.

Saving a file is not permission to republish someone else's Reel. Read copyright and responsible use.

Public Reels only

Close Friends, trial Reels that are not public, and stories are not downloaded here. Instagram's own Save feature still follows Instagram's visibility rules. ReelFetch never asks for your Instagram password.

Frequently asked questions

Where do Instagram’s saved Reels go?

Can I save a private Reel as a file?

No. ReelFetch only checks public Reel links. Instagram’s in-app Save still follows Instagram’s own visibility rules.
